The Law of Conservation of Energy says that the amount of energy in an isolated system remains constant. Energy cannot be created nor destroyed; it only changes form from one kind of energy to another.

Sometimes, people say that the Law of Conservation of Energy says that the amount of energy in our universe is constant. However, it is not known at this time whether our universe is an isolated system.
